Leonard Cohen in Beacon Theater New York City

Leonard Cohen will perform tomorrow night in Beacon Theater in New York City. He is performing in US for the first time after 15 years. He is now 74 years old who published many poem books like "Let us compare mythologies" in 1956 when Bob Dylan was only 15 years old. He published many other books like "Beautiful losers" and the enigmatic love song like "Suzanne". For many years he abandoned live performances and lived in Zen monastery like Buddhist Monk outside LA.
In 2006 after finding out his longtime manager drained almost his entire saving he returned to stage with dark, melancholic songs like Halleluja.

He was/is always one of my favorite singer of all time, I always loved "Dance to the end of love", "Here it is", Suzanne, "I am your man", "Halleluja" and many others..... I don't have ticket for tomorrow night (I might try to go see if I can get it at the box office) but I hope you do have tickets and you can enjoy his warm, deep and unspeakable voice tomorrow night.... I deeply wish it is not going to be his last one here in New York City

I like it but I know many people love it.......

Obama era

"We have duties to ourselves, our nation and the world,
duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly."

Barack Obama

Finally Bush is out of the White House and the era of Obama begins.... I was so surprised to see how many people watched(still watching) the boring inaugural ceremony... including myself .... I was more surprised to find out my parents who live in Iran watched entire live program through satellite and when I called them they congratulate me and they say we liked his speech!!!!!!!! I begin to think? How much desperate American and non American people are to get ride of Bush administration and desperate to start a new one with many hopes....... in one hand is the first African-American to be the president of the United State and on the other hand.... Bush free era....

I think as non-American I should congratulate all American who wanted this change to happen so badly they decided to do something and they participate the election.. now all we can do is to be hopeful and optimistic.... and see what is going to happen next

Museum of Sex in New York City

If you are in New York City and love to go to museum you have heard about "The museum of Sex" on the corner of 27 and 5th Avenue. It is 4th story building with no shining entrance nor any other sign.

In the first floor usually is the current exhibition.. I saw "Four centuries of graphic sex in Japan" last year, the current exhibition called "The sex lives of animals". To be honest with you I wasn't expecting much but to my surprises it turns out very interesting, educational and very funny.

Couple of highlights about "The sex lives of the animals" :

They can be necrophilia
They can be heterosexual
They like to have group sex
Their gender could change over the time
They like to have oral sex

I know sounds strange and there are more..... oh well, it was for me but seriously they are very interesting...

Second floor usually is moving images or films related to sex and my favorite one is this cartoon probably one of the first created by couple of illustrates as a birthday gift.. it is hilariously funny....... There are other films too from the early days in cinema until recent .... You learn how the industry treated these movies in the early days of cinema and how so many movies destroyed or lost for same reason......you can seat and watch the these short films and cartoons.... as my friend jokes " this place is a good excuse to watch porn with totally strangers and don't feel guilty or bad at all". You can also find images, books, painting from Picasso to unknown artist in this floor along with toys....

So if you are in New York City and have some time this place is very interesting, lots of fun, laugh and amusement
Cafe Doma

This is one of my favorite cafe in New York City, located in West Village. As soon as you steppe in to the cafe you feel the taste of European style. My friend makes joke and says "as soon as you walk here you feel intellectual"... Almost everybody is reading a book, working on computer, drawing, working on something as group or individual or engaged in a deep conversation or shallow!!!!!!

The yummy pannini European style sandwich with small soup, is great.... I love the herbal tea (they have plenty of different kind of herbal eta) and the coffee lover say the coffee is great.... By the way they serve alcohol too....

So if you are around this neighbor I highly recommend to check out the place and food

CHC Gallry with Madam X

Last Friday we went to a photography exhibition in CHC Gallery in Chelsea. The artist was Susan Mikula(never heard her name before), the exhibit called "Sic transit". I am not art critic but to be honest with you I didn't like the show and didn't get inspired in any way and most importantly couldn't get the art. I usually consider myself to get photography, but the charm didn't work this time.

Friday was snow storm in New York area and I wasn't expecting anybody show up expect me with my craziness. Well, it turns out I wasn't the only crazy one in town(including Pete and my friends). Many people showed up and since CHC gallery is quite small it was really hard to walk in the gallery with packed people......

Personally I like photography but this time I had some curiosity for lesbian art(which didn't get satisfied by the way)too. I know sounds silly to say lesbian or non-lesbian art, but somehow I was hoping to see something and maybe that's why I didn't get the exhibition at first place.

Anyway, I didn't get the show maybe you go and get it but please let me know if you will. One more thing if you won't like the show CHC is in Chelsea neighborhood, make sure you go to other galleries located to the same street or in the neighborhood... you can find quite significant number of art galleries to enjoy new modern of art, just make sure to go between 10 AM to 6 PM.......

And if you are in the West Village area and like to hang out for a drink with friends I recommend checking Madam X.. sexy bar with black and red colors all over... nice music and you can still have decent conversation without going deaf............
